General

What is the difference between the Pro and the Home license?

The Home license is intended for personal/family use only. The Pro license is for commercial uses/purposes. The key difference is in the use you will make of the enhanced images. If you want to enhance your family pictures, print and store them in a photo album you can use the Home license. But if you use the enhanced pictures in your business (you integrate them in a brochure, you sell them because you are a professional photographer, you use them in your real estate agency etc.) you should buy the Pro license. Check our blog to get more infos and a discussion about this matter.

Is there a way to compare original and enhanced images?

After you have enhanced your picture you can click over it (Mac OS X) or press the x key (Windows).

What image types/formats are supported?

  • Mac OS X: Jade can read any file format supported by Leopard.
  • Windows: Jade can read PNG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP and all the WCI codecs installed.

Are RAW/NEF images handled?

  • Mac OS X: Yes.
  • Windows: You have to install the codecs provided with your digital camera, they aren’t provided with Jade.

Is there a Photoshop/Lightroom plug-in?

In the future we will release a plug-in for Photoshop and Lightroom, but we are still designing it.

Will Jade be available in different languages/localizations?

Only an Italian localization is planned, but we don’t have an official release date for it.

Jade for Mac OS X

I cannot open the .dmg file, “codec overrun”!

This generally means that the .dmg file is corrupted. Try to download it again, using a different application, e.g. Safari, which works well. If you still cannot open the image file try to clear your browser cache and download it again.

Jade doesn’t start

Check your operating system. Jade requires Mac OS X 10.5.0 (Leopard) or later. If you are running Tiger the application won’t launch.

Is Jade integrated with iPhoto/Aperture?

Yes, you can configure iPhoto to use Jade as an “External editor”, just as you do with any other image editor. Have a look at Jade and iPhoto docs for details. An Aperture plug-in will soon be available.

I can’t install the plugin using the installer!

If you experience problems with the installer try to download this package. Unzip it and copy the contents into /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/ or YourHome/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/.
