DataMind Jade

Here we are!

After some weeks spent in fine tuning the application and collecting feedbacks from our selected beta testers, we are ready for a public release of Jade for Windows Beta. There are still some issues we have to address and some features that need to be tuned, but you can now test Jade on Windows with all the major functionalities in place.

This beta version will expire on 9th of May and let you test the Jade algorithm on single photos and in batch processing. For what concern requirements, Jade for Windows needs Microsoft Net 3.0 installed on your machine; the beta setup will detect the version of the .Net framework actually installed and will prompt you if you need it (please note that this will require a network connection). This requierements means that Jade will work out-of-the-box on Windows Vista, while on Windows XP will require the installation of the framework (if not already installed for other reasons, a common situation today).

We are looking forward to hear from you any comments/critics/feedbacks on Jade for Windows; this will help us in preparing for the imminent official release of 1.0 version. Please keep in mind that this is still a beta, so don’t use it on unique important images without a backup.

We have just released version 1.1.2 for Mac. The main changes are:

1. Show DPI in info panel;
2. Preserve DPI info of images;
3. minor fixes (crash on CTRL-click, etc.).

We have just released version 1.1 for Mac. The main changes are the same described in the previous post plus some more:

1. Batch save over originals;
2. Remove filtered images from gallery (always if filtered over, optionally otherwise);
3. IPTC and Gps geotagging support.

You can download a beta version of Jade for Mac 1.1 here! It will be officially released April, the 11th 2008. In the mean we offer you the opportunity to test the new features and the revamped graphical user interface. We encourage everyone to give us feedback/suggestion/bug reports, we will take them in high consideration and the best ones will be awarded.

Main changes are:

1. iPhoto interaction (check the user manual);
2. RAW images reading support;
3. Revamped UI;
4. Recursion on folders when loading pictures;
5. Zoom with mouse wheel;
6. Info panel;
7. General performance improvements;

Jade for Windows is almost ready, here you can see a couple of screenshots. If you are interested in joining the public beta write down an email to us. The beta will be released to selected testers on March, the 28th. We will send them a zip file containing the installer and a simple questionnaire. Testers who will complete and send us back the questionnaire will receive a special discount coupon to buy Jade when it will be released.

Today I show you some more pictures of us (Here you can find the 1st part). I know I should have done it a couple of weeks ago, but we have been really busy these days. Here is the whole group (Daniele is missing).

Today we removed every discount on the licenses prices. The good news is that we lowered prices too. Now Jade Pro price is $149.99 and Jade Home is $29.99 only. It’s about 5 weeks that we are selling Jade, this time has been used to improve it and to do some market research. We had a lot of data and feedback to work on, and we think these new prices are fair. We hope you will like them too!

We have released 1.0.5 just now, check it out! Users who are working with 1.0.4 should be asked automatically to install the update, thanks to Sparkle, which was integrated into Jade since last version.

The main changes are:

1. The Italian localization, which we have been asked for many times.
2. Drag and drop images directly from Safari.
3. A new “File > Save Original as” menu item has been added, to save originals.
4. Now the zoom status in the thumbs and the enhance button status are saved into the preferences.
5. Various bugfixes.

I would like to make a little announce here, a Jade for Windows beta is almost ready, and we are looking for beta testers. If you are interested in joining the beta program please write down a mail here, we will contact you in a couple of weeks. When some screenshots will be available I will write a post about the beta program.
